My blog page below contains more detailed photos and explanations so please read ahead! 🙂

“Avengers” movie was about the courage of Tony Stark.
“Endgame” movie was about the courage of Steve Rogers.
“Infinity War” movie was about the courage of Thor.
And DO NOT PISS OFF THOR.
And I think we can all agree that Thor lost the most yet he stood up to confront his worst nightmare.
Thor is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU but we love him for his unbending positive thinking he has.
When this figure was announced, I screamed “BRING ME MAFEX THOR!”
Mafex figures tend to almost always have a QC (quality control) issue.
Frankly, they are one of the worst brands when it comes to that.
That said, I keep buying their product because they could be the best sculpted and proportioned figure out there.
In short, their figure looks awesome.

And this Thor is no different. I had the Mafex Black Panther and that one didn’t have any QC issue so I had high hope for this Thor to not have any as well. And luckily, the only issue I had was the thunder effect not sticking on to the Stormbreaker which was easily fixed with blue tac. So for those who still haven’t got this item and worried about Mafex QC issues, go jump on it. It’s a masterpiece.

Now, I do have the Infinity War Thanos but I haven’t finished completing my forest diorama so I’ve decided to use my perfect custom Endgame Thanos. Besides, fat Thor was funny but we all wanted the Infinity War Thor to faceoff the Endgame Thanos. So that is what I’ve done.

I don’t think any of the Black Order would have had any chance against full-powered Thor. Especially when he’s wielding his Stormbreaker.

I have purchased a 1/12 scale NOTA Studio Captain America Hammer Shield kit SHF Marvel Legends set.
You can purchase this item on eBay or some online store carries it still but if you can wait, I suggest you do so.

The upcoming Mafex Captain America Endgame figure will include everything in this set. The Nota Studio set is more than half of the price of the Mafex Captain America. I purchased this set way before the announcement from Mafex and I would have never bought it if I knew about it.

The effects are from Bandai “Tamashii Effect”. I have also purchased effect parts from eBay too.

With the use of my Thanos throne diorama and all these special effect pieces, I can keep making new scenarios.
For the detail on the Thanos throne diorama, please check my previous blog “Perfect Thanos”.
I will be posting a separate blog review for special effect and diorama where you can check out what I’ve used for this review and the previous Perfect Thanos review.

I really wanted the Hulk or Thor to smash down the Black Dwarf. Having Antman booting him down was a bit disappointing.

If Stormbreak Thor was to face the 4 members of the Black Order, he probably would have destroyed them all.
Now,  Ebony Maw is very different in the comic. He isn’t a telepath or anything. His ability is to manipulate anyone even Dr. Strange and that is wild.
Bu~t, having Maw getting a major spotlight was great!
And even if super telepath Maw fought with Thor, he would have not been a match. Instead, I am sure Thor would have enjoyed crushing Maw for his monologuing in the face of his people’s death.

As you can see, I have used quite a bit of special effect piece and it was a lot of fun I must say.

I miss the Mjölnir…
I know the next Thor is Jane Foster Thor but I wonder how can she become the Thor without the Mjölnir. It’s mandatory for her.
Unless you’re going to do another “girl power” that ruined Marvel Comic to near bankruptcy.
I am a Japanese Canadian and if you know anything about Japanese guys, we LOVE PROJECTILE ENERGY ATTACKS.
A laser beam, Kamehameha, whatever. Any energy blast is our arena of entertainment. And thunder attacks are no different.

Now, I did mention if you can wait, wait for the Mafex Endgame Captain America to get the Mjölnir, thunder effect, broken shield, and Mjölnir’s throwing effect but that figure will not come with a blue translucent hammer effect. That is included in the NOTA Studio set.

Did I mention the Mafex Thor comes with thunder effects on his 6 metal button thingy on his torso?

Mafex didn’t need to bother but they were kickass to do so.
Additionally, there are two thunder effects for the Stormbreaker and two more for Thor’s wrists.
I said we Japanese love energy projectile attacks!
And Wanda needs a piece of Thanos if I am doing any photo shooting on Thanos beat down.
Aim for the head?
No, Thor wants every piece of Thanos.
Every piece!

Now all the effects items will be introduced in my next blog so that you can recreate your own action pack photography.

Even if the movie did not offer everything you wanted, you can recreate your imagination with your own hands.
That is why I collect action figures. And I am sure that is why you collect yours.
So, what did I think about this Mafex Thor?
The best of it’s kind. Unbeatable.
The articulation is good. The accessories are great. The proportion is top-notch. The cloth wired cape adds a lot to the posing.
If you are looking to get a Thor figure, this is what you want. This is what you need my friend.
This IS the PERFECT THOR.
…That said, I am waiting for a third party to release a better head sculpt. There are many artists who make well-detailed custom heads for figures.
I am sure someone will be making one for this Thor. And once it is out, I am surely going to get it.
Oh, I forgot to mention. This Thor comes with an additional torso to give a blow on Hela’s face.
Yea, awesome isn’t it. You get another torso PLUS arms exposing his manly biceps.
He comes with 3 heads. One regular head. Once with thunder blue effect eyes and another with an eyepatch.
Again, Mafex totally didn’t need to but they did because they are awesome.

I am very much looking forward to the Endgame Captain America and Ironman Mafex figure. It’s painful to need to wait until next March and June which they will definitely postpone the release day because that’s like a promised thing that the Mafex brand does.

But worry not! I have a ton of reviews coming!
And next up will be the diorama special effect coming very soon!

Keep tuned!

  3. Most of the things you assert happens to be supprisingly accurate and that makes me wonder why I had not looked at this in this light before. Your article truly did turn the light on for me personally as far as this specific issue goes. Nonetheless there is just one issue I am not really too comfy with so whilst I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual central idea of your issue, let me observe what all the rest of your subscribers have to say.Nicely done.
