Marvel S.H. Figuarts: Birth of Iron Man Edition: Tony Stark & Iron Man Mark 1 Premium Bandai Exclusive

I am, IRON MAN

And RDJ is Tony Stark. And I am so grateful that he was chosen for this role. Hugh Jackman is Wolverine. Tobey is Spider-Man. Magic happens when a perfect casting is done.

So I am reviewing two Premium Bandai items this time since they are inseparable in a way. And there isn’t much to review for Tony Stark figure. Let’s be fair. It’s a simple man in suit figure with some accessories.

As expected, RDJ looks good in his suit but sadly my figure has a major defect. The joints inside the thigh aren’t aligned. Meaning, one leg is longer and the body will be twisted in a weird way. This is not fixable and such a sloppy mistake. It’s surprising that Bandai did such lazy work on a premium figure and honestly, very disappointing.

As you can see, the pegs aren’t aligned. Unfortunately, the figure shares the bottom half of the body so the defect will remain even if you want to display with the tanktop upper body. To repair this, it will take some work and I say it’s a bit too much for the price we’ve paid for such a simple figure.

The Arc Reactor is printed on Tony’s chest. I am quite satisfied with the muscular arm especially Tony’s shoulder muscle area. It looks realistic and the joint is well hidden. We also get two head to sculpt. I personally prefer the sunglass look.

We also get black smith accessories as well as Mark I face plate which is identical to the Mark I figure one.

I love this cocky ass version. I might just ditch this defective body and find a 1/12 scale suit figure and give it this sunglass head sculpt.

And I wonder how Tony will react to Deathpool. It would be so much fun!

I know most of you don’t care but I want Yinsen figure. Some would even say “WHO?”. The guy who helped Tony build Mark I. He became the moral voice of Tony in the Iron Man I movie. I love great supporting characters. And I know. No company will care to offer us a 1/12 scale figure…

From here, I will be reviewing Mark I. And this figure is great. The details, the weathering, it’s all great. Honestly, you can ditch the Tony figure. It ain’t worth it but this Mark I is a godly figure with a bit of problem.

We get one launching effect, two flame launcher effects, and extra pairs of hands as well as Tony’s piece slot piece.

The flame launchers are awesome! I  am happy that Bandai did not cheap out by just giving us one effect. Unfortunately, one of the pegs broke off instantly. Bandai, I always praised your quality. Don’t make me wrong.

You can add Tony’s eyepiece beneath the faceplate to make it look like Tony’s inside the armor. Or you can remove it and make it look like no one’s inside.

Mark I comes with two sets of hands. But swapping is a nightmare. Simply the hands are embedded so deep inside the armor that it’s really hard to reach it.

One cool effect you get is this launching fire. There aren’t any pegs to hold the effect to the bottom of the foot so the figure is simply resting on top of this accessory.

As you can see, this figure is awesome! I am really happy about getting this.

If you collect other Ironman figures with a hall of armor accessory, you can finally complete your display. It was a very long wait but it was definitely worth waiting for!

I only start collecting S.H.Figuarts Ironman recently and we can all expect them to rerelease the rest of the Hall of Armor Iron Man figures. We already got Mark I, III, and VII rereleased from Premium Bandai.

Mark VI was just announced for regular release and this one looks like a new sculpt. Or it could be an upgrade. That battle damage looks awesome! I hope they offered damage armor accessories for all other figures too but that is ok. I wish we get a new War Machine Mark I to go with this Iron Man Mark VI figure.

Anyhow, I love the Mark I figure. It is a beauty. Tony figure? My honest opinion is, I should have ditched it and bought a different figure. You can always get a better Tony’s head to sculpt from elsewhere and pop it on a better 1/12 scale suited figure.

Now we need Bandai to announce Mark II, IV, and V! I know they will eventually give us new paint work and rerelease them. And I look forward to that day.
