Abe is here! And thank you 1000Toys for offering us, Abe. We really needed him and we need more! (lol). By the way, as you may already know, my posting was usually 3 times a week but will be cut down a bit due to… Well, my toys aren’t delivering to me due to all this pandemic. So sorry. But anyhow, can’t Western company give us a smaller box? I can fit 4 Abes in this box literally. A bigger box is never good for a collector. I still say S.H.Figuarts are the best for the collector to store the boxes.
Abe is an amphibian so his skin’s a bit glossy and that’s ok. Overall, I think 1000Toys nailed him and I love this figure so much!! But why did you need to do a deluxe version with the Rasputin statue? For an extra $100 was it? Come on we do want Rasputin but not a statue for $100. I totally didn’t mind if you just gave him a cloth robe and a generic body underneath. We need a Rasputin figure that can articulate 1000Toys.
Pure art in figure form. A lot of people may look at these figures and treat them as nothing but toys but can museum sculptors add articulation? What I think of highly detailed figures is no different from what we see at the museum. If you cannot sculpt, you cant make a figure. If you can’t engineer properly, the articulation will fail. And you must be able to paint them well too. Well above most artwork found at any museum I would say. For me, these are art statues that can pose.
I must warn, the holsters will pop out easily and once it is gone, it’s gone. So be very aware! The vest does restrict the movement of the torso but because he has a nice leg movement, it won’t be in your way.
The major disappointment we got with Hellboy is that if you did not get the Deluxe edition, he does not come with the Hell Horns which is quite mandatory for his character. Hellboy comes with two heads but for the regular edition, you will need to share the shaved horn with the two heads. Couldn’t you just give us an extra shaved head then??
Yea, I know Conan. You’re showing your watch so that 1000Toys know we’re still waiting for Kroenen and Professor figure. And we are also waiting for the Guillermo del Toro versions too. Not the pity 2019 crap. What? The studio doesn’t like Guillermo? Well, look what happened to your ego crap 2019 version. It was a joke. Let the master do his job.
The Hellboy figure was pure fun too. I really do praise the sculpture who did the job. Nailed it!!
One amazing thing from 1000Toys is that the body is a soft material so that the abs look natural yet he can have full ab crunch. Amazing technology! I really wanted McFarlane Toys to use this technology for their Kickstarter Spawn instead of giving us a fixed statue torso.
Another thing I really do respect 1000Toys is that they listen to our fans. Because fans are their best customers. Hellboy prototype had his kneecap connected with his lower leg so when you bend the knee, the knee cap pops out like armor. But they’ve fixed that and added the knee cap to the knee joint itself to make it look natural. Revoltech should have done that for their Batman and now whenever you bend his knee, it looks weird.
Oh, and Hellboy’s right-hand fingers will fully articulate. The first company to ever engineer this was Bandai when they did it for their Gundam model kits. Now, Hot Toys are using the idea and even action figure companies are too. And it adds so much since the hand is the second part of our body that expresses our emotions best.
Both, Hellboy and Abe’s articulations are brilliant. I have nothing but a compliment. By the way, the comic ended and I also respect the author for that. Western Comics tends to leach on popular characters forever and never let it go. We see this for Superman and almost any superheroes but you don’t see Japanese manga going forever, do you? Some do due to being national icons but almost all the authors will drop the pen to avoid spoiling the character too much. Because the story concluded, Hellboy is an actual story. A story without an ending isn’t actually a story.
And if you do want the Hellboy back in a comic form, they can. Like how Cowboy Bebop did for their movies. Just tell a story before the ending. Dragon Ball returned as Dragon Ball Super and the author can drop the pen again if so he wishes. I don’t mind reading another Hellboy doing his Hellboy jokes.
In the end, these figures are beautiful. I will not let them go. And I must say, 1000Toys probably won’t make any more figures from Hellboy since the sales won’t be as successful comparing to Hellboy himself. Like how many people will buy Liz? I will. But the majority will just buy Hellboy and be done with it. Kroenen? Maybe. He was popular as Abe or sometimes he was more fan favorite.
